Poster for nightclub. Screenprint.

For some reason Franck Gohier and I produced a new poster for a nightclub held every week on the end of the wharf in Darwin Harbour.
The box jellyfish and crocodiles kept the two worlds apart.
The quarantine zone was close enough for the impounded Indonesian fishing boats and their crews to hear the music. They were entertained by the antics of the intoxicated white middle class.
The cheap beer and low lights unleashed various passions.

Wow !!! Haven't seen this poster in years ! Brings back memories...the embers of the Jabiluka Uranium mine protest still glowing...the Free East Timor mob wondering what new cause to take on now that it was all over. And all the protestors, activists, muso's,Artists,DJ's,lost sailors, the curious, middle class kids gone feral/hippie all on the dance floor...glancing nervously at each other to suss out who was cooler than thou.....wondering what the fuck Tom Redston and Franck Gohier were doing regularly plastering posters up on their KONGO venue in very uncool ink and paint splattered clothes with attitudes to match. Ha!

Can you post the other postes in this series?
It's strange to notice that once again the best projects are unpolluted by pecunary interest. I think we got a free beer for out trouble. (an the satifaction ofsetting the tone of the evening. Regardless of the best efforts of others.
